Robert Henry Jones (Associate); admitted 1990, England and Wales
as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court; admitted 1998, Cayman Islands
as an Attorney at Law.
Robert graduated from Hull University in 1987 with an Honours
Degree in Law and upon qualification in 1990 and until coming
to the Cayman Islands in 1998, Robert was employed by the UK law
firm Dibb Lupton Alsop (as it was then known.)
Working for a large commercial firm with offices in the UK cities
of Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Sheffield,
Robert gained a broad range of experience dealing with personal
injury claims for the firm’s shipping clients and he also
handled a significant amount of employment related matters, including
Industrial Tribunal claims and matters requiring ACAS conciliation.
Robert was then appointed the in-house litigation advisor to
his office’s property department, advising all partners,
associates and assistant solicitors in that office on a range
of property related issues.
Robert joined Ritch & Conolly in 1998 and specializes in
Commercial Litigation and has particular expertise in property
related litigation, acting for the firm’s banking and development
clients in connection with all property related issues including
dilapidation claims, commercial boundary disputes, rent review
proceedings, mortgage repossessions and ancillary landlord and
tenant matters.
Robert also advises those clients on a range of contractual and
statutory matters and as well as frequent appearances in our Summary
Court, Grand Court, and Court of Appeal. Robert regularly appears
before or is asked to make representations to our Central Planning
Authority, the Planning Appeals Tribunal and our Labour and Employment
Appeals Tribunals.
